Ellen Zimmerman is a Licensed Social Worker who has lived in Scotch Plains for over 20 years. Currently, she works as Human Resources Director at The Franklin Food Bank in Somerset, NJ. Ellen has dedicated her career to helping those families struggling with food insecurity in central New Jersey communities. This has been particularly challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic as the number of people relying on food banks to feed their families has increased.
Ellen and her husband of 25 years have raised three children in Scotch Plains. Her two daughters have graduated from Scotch Plains Fanwood High School and are in college. Her son is a sophomore at SPFHS. Ellen has been an active volunteer in the community. She has served as PTA President at McGinn Elementary School and Girl Scout leader for both of her daughters’ troops. She served as a School Organizer for the Girl Scouts, where she was liaison for ten local troops.
Ellen has also served on the Cultural Arts Committee in Scotch Plains. She has served as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the JCC of Central New Jersey as well as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. She has also previously chaired the Winter Fundraiser at the JCC.
Ellen is committed to ensuring Scotch Plains remains a safe, happy, accommodating community.
