It is with deep sadness that we morn the passing of County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi. She was an institution in Union County and a great friend to Scotch Plains. Over the last several years we had grown closer and I depended on her thoughts and opinions regarding pending legislation. She was a leader amongst her peers, and a giant in Union County political circles. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Szpond Jr., father of our Vice-Chairman, Ray Szpond, and a staple around the SPDC for years at all of our events. Through the years he has laughed with us and provided sage counsel from the perspective of a life well lived. While quiet in demeanor, his stature within our organization was mighty. Our condolences are with the entire Szpond family during this difficult time.
