It is with deep sadness that we morn the passing of County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi. She was an institution in Union County and a great friend to Scotch Plains. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time.A statement from Senate President and County Chairman Nicholas P. Scutari regarding his friend County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi’s passing: “Joanne was one of the finest public servants in the history of the State of New Jersey. Her track record in keeping our elections transparent, safe, and secure was second to none. In her role as both a Democratic party leader and as an expert in elections, there were no voices I trusted more. Over the last several years we had grown closer and I depended on her thoughts and opinions regarding pending legislation. She was a leader amongst her peers, and a giant in Union County political circles. She will be dearly missed, but her incredible legacy will never be forgotten.”newjerseyglobe.com/in-memoriam/joanne-rajoppi-legendary-union-county-clerk-dies-at-78/ ...
